Attraction of foreign investments is one of top-priority tasks aimed at development of the city’s economy. Among the projects implemented by the Ufa City Administration together with foreign companies we can name the following:
Avalon group of companies is designing a technopark with an A-class logistics terminal with the total area of 100 thousand square meters. The construction of the terminal will provide 1500 new jobs for Ufa citizens. In 2008 the company registered the land lease for the construction of the complex, conducted site investigation and carried out designing of construction projects and utility networks. In 2009 the investors are planning to complete the project works, obtain a building permit and proceed to the construction of the logistic park.

RosEvroDevelopment Company is implementing a large investment project on the construction of multifunctional family-type social and public center “Planet” in Glumilino residential neighborhood of Oktyabrskiy district of Ufa City. The volume of funds invested into the preparation for the construction of the center with a total floor area of 150 thousand square meters exceeded 270 mln. rubles. The commencement of the construction is planned for 2009.

Sodruzhestvo Company invested over 1 bln. 330 million US dollars into the construction of Park House retail and entertainment complex with the total floor area of 106 thousand square meters. In 2008 the investors obtained all essential permits, licenses and approvals required for designing of the complex as well as technical specifications of engineer support facilities. The construction management plan and “project” stage were developed, currently they are in the process of obtaining an approval.

The speed of implementation of one of the most significant projects that is the construction of “MEGA” multifunctional family center of IKEA was considerable decreased due to the fault of the Turkish company that had been chosen by the investor as general designer and contractor. Lack of all required project documentation, permits, licenses, and approvals as well as low quality of the execution of works lead to the termination of agreement between the investor and the general designer thus delaying the opening of the center for two years minimum. At the end of 2008, IKEA announced a second tender for the execution of works after having invited a range of Ufa companies. A new general designer and contractor will be selected in February 2009.

In 2009 the Ufa City Municipal District Administration together with foreign investors will continue realization of the above-mentioned and new projects. Thus, the US company “Joint Replacement Hospitals of America” is planning the construction of an endoprosthesis joint replacement hospital that is unique for the South Europe. REMONDIS, a German company, showed interest in the implementation of a joint project on the upgrade of public utilities equipment and creation of an up-to-date system of collection, recycling and utilization of solid domestic waste.
