Results of Foreign Economic and Interregional Activity of Ufa City in 2009Following the results of 2009, the foreign trade turnover of Ufa’s companies amounted to 1352.4 mln. US dollars that is 28 % less than the corresponding figure of 2008 (1877.6 mln. US dollars). Exports decreased by 27.3 % and accounted for 1100 mln. US dollars. Imports decreased by 30.9 % and accounted for 252.5 mln. US dollars. Positive trade balance was retained with exports exceeding imports four-fold. The share of exports of mineral products accounted for almost 40% of the city’s foreign trade turnover (520 mln. US dollars out of 1352.5 mln. US dollars). While values of export turnover decreased by 46%, that mainly resulted from fall in oil and oil products prices, the volume of exports of this product group exceeded the figures of 2008 (1638 mln. tones) in 2009 and grew by 38% if compared to 2007 (1208 mln. tones). Trade partners of Ufa's companies included 76 countries. The trade turnover with far-abroad countries accounted for 1050 mln. US dollars (1444 mln. US dollars in 2008) and exceeded 302 mln. US dollars with the CIS republics (433.6 mln. US dollars in 2008). The value of goods exported by the companies of Ufa City in 2009 totaled 1100 mln. US dollars. (1512 mln. US dollars in 2008). The share of exports in the total trade turnover accounted for 81.3 %. A considerable share in the structure of exports, namely over 20 %, was occupied by machinery. Mineral products in the amount of 519.8 mln. US dollars (47.3 per cent of the total export volume) were exported mainly to Italy, Kazakhstan, Latvia and the Netherlands. The share of machine-building products increased considerably, from 21.3 % of the total export volume in 2008 up to 37.1 % in 2009. The growth of export value of machine-building products (408.1 mln. US dollars in 2009 vs. 322.1 mln. US dollars in 2008) resulted from increased exports of parts for jet turbine engines, gas turbine engines, and special-purpose vehicles. The largest trade partners were India, Algeria, China and Kazakhstan. Exports of chemicals amounted to 66 mln. US dollars thus accounting for 6% of the total export volume. Ufa’s enterprises exported mainly organic chemical compounds, lubricant additives and rubber goods. In 2009 exports of metals and metal products grew by 5.4% due to exports of ferrous metals, nickel products, and goods produced of basic metals. It totaled 57.2 mln. US dollars (47.9 mln. US dollars in 2008). The largest Ufa’s exporters were UMPO OAO, NUNPZ OAO, UNPZ OAO, Ufaneftekhim OAO, Ufa playwood kombinat OOO and Transterminal OOO. In 2009 companies of Ufa purchased imported commodities to the amount of 252.5 mln. US dollars (365.6 mln. US dollars in 2008). The share of imports in the total volume of the trade turnover equaled to 18.7 % (19.5 % in 2008). Imports of the city are mainly made up of machine-building products (206.6 mln. US dollars), that is 81.8% of the total imports volume (260.2 mln. US dollars in 2008, 71.1% correspondingly). Ufa’s enterprises purchased industrial equipment, cargo railway carriages and new motorcars from the USA, France, Austria, Italy, People's Republic of China, Ukraine and Uzbekistan. If compared to 2008, imports of chemical industry products (mainly contact substances, acids and coloring ingredients for manufacture of ceramic tiles) decreased threefold from 51.6 mln. US dollars down to 17.2 mln. US dollars and accounted for 6.8% from the total import volume. In 2009 Ufa’s companies spent 8.3 mln. US dollars for food products and raw materials for their production (mainly, hop plant and its extracts; 10 mln. US dollars in 2008) and 7.3 mln. US dollars for glass products (12.3 mln. US dollars in 2008). The share of other product groups in the total imports volume is rather small. The largest Ufa’s importers were Ufaneftekhim OAO, Ufaorgsintez OAO, Rusçam-Ufa OOO, NUNPZ OAO and Lasselsberger OOO. In 2009 Ufa City Municipal District Administration conducted 52 meetings with foreign delegations, 17 trips of Ufa Administration’s officials to the Russian regions and foreign countries. Ufa City welcomed official delegations of Embassies of Switzerland, Germany, Canada, and Austria; businessmen from the USA, People's Republic of China, Great Britain, Sweden, Czech Republic and Japan; official delegations and working groups from Ufa’s twin-cities, namely Ankara, Shenyang, Orenburg, Ekaterinburg and Chelyabinsk.
