International Assembly celebrates its 10th anniversary
Source: Foreign Economic Relations Department International Assembly of capitals and large cities (well-known by its Russian abbreviation MAG) celebrates today its 10th anniversary. Established in 1998 to consolidate the cities’ efforts in solving the tasks and priorities urgent and common for all municipalities, now the Assembly unites 81 regional centers and capitals with the total number of population exceeding 53 million people.
Ufa was among the 24 founding cities of the Assembly, headed by Moscow Mayor Yuri Luzhkov. This week, the members of the Assembly meet in Moscow at the International Forum “Development strategies of large cities. Investment construction programs” dedicated to the Assembly’s anniversary. Head of Ufa city municipal district Administration, Pavel R. Kachkaev participates in today’s MAG activities as well, together with 80 mayors from Russia, Armenia, Belarus, Kazakhstan, Kyrgizstan, Moldova, Tajikistan and the Ukraine. Ufa is one of the most active MAG participants. Last year, the capital of Bashkortostan Republic hosted XI Annual Session of MAG. This year, at MAG’s International Forum “Megapolis: XXI Century”, Ufa was awarded four prizes of “The Best City in CIS countries” competition in such nominations as achievements in organizing tutorship and curatorship of orphans, successful reforming of public education sphere, formation of competitive environment in municipal management system, introduction of innovative technologies into the communal sphere. |
