Ufa industry has preserved the dynamics of development

Yesterday, leaders of 180 large and medium-sized industrial companies of Ufa gathered in Ufa City Administration to sum up the results of Year 2008. The meeting was chaired by Mr. Pavel Kachkaev, Head of Administration, with participation of Mr. Airat Gaskarov, First Deputy Prime Minister of Bashkortostan Government, Mr. Sergei Yefremov, chairman of Bashkortostan’s Chamber of Commerce and Industry, Mr. Irek Nigmatullin, chairman of Ufa City Council.
In his opening speech, Ufa Mayor noted that the positive development dynamics characteristic of Ufa industry in the recent years was retained in the past year. In spite of financial crisis that manifested itself full-scale in November-December, the whole year was finished with good economic indices. Ufa companies produced goods and services with the value of almost 300 billion rubles, with 177 billion input of the fuel and energy sector. The total volume of investment into Ufa economy reached 85 billion rubles. Housing construction was very intensive: almost 810 thousand square meters of new houses were commissioned. Numerous social objects – such as kindergartens and medical facilities – were constructed. New roads, bridges, retail outlets appear in the city, making the life of Ufa citizens more comfortable. The average salary in the city has exceeded 18 thousand rubles.
Mrs. Albina Yusupova, deputy head of Ufa City Administration, dwelled on the operation of main industrial companies that employ Ufa citizens. The results of 2008 show that some of businesses (operating in chemical industry, technical rubber items production, consumer goods production) have decreased production volumes. Yet, many Ufa companies actively introduce innovation production techniques, upgrade their production facilities, expand their target consumer markets. Such producers as Ufa Engine Production Association, Gidravlika, Progress may serve as positive examples.
General directors of Ufa Instrument Production Association, STEKLONiT, Allat companies shared their views on the recent changes in economic situation. Director of Municipal employment center described the developments at employment market of Ufa.
Mr. Airat Gaskarov, First Deputy Prime Minister of Bashkortostan Government, summarized the meeting and shared the information on the operation of crisis-prevention commission and measures taken by Bashkortostan’s Government to alleviate the consequences of the crisis and to support the Republic’s economy.
