The executive committee of the Russian Olympic Committee has approved a list of 175 sportsmen who will participate in the XXI Winter Olympics in Vancouver as members of the Russian national team.
The sportsmen will represent 31 Russian regions with 51 honored masters of sports, 72 international masters of sports, 41 masters of sports, 10 candidate masters and even 1 sportsman of the first category among them, the vice-president of the Russian Olympic Committee Vladimir Vasin was quoted as saying to RIA Novosti. The official list will be published on February 1st, 2010.
According to the Minister of youth policy, sports and tourism of Bashkortostan Republic Aleksandr Nikerin, Bashkortostan will be represented by the biathlonist Maxim Chudov, short-track speed-skaters Simeon Elistratov and Ruslan Zakharov, ski-jumper Dmitry Vasiliev, Nordic skier Sergey Maslennikov, Alpine skier Leisan Rayanova and the players from the Salavat Yulayev ice-hockey team Dmitriy Kalinin, Sergey Zinoviev, Alexander Radulov and Viktor Kozlov (including the goalkeeper Alexander Eremenko and full-backs Vitally Proshkin and Oleg Tverdovsky in the reserve).
