On Monday, high-rank official delegation headed by Prime Minister of the Russian Government Vladimir Putin paid a one-day visit to Ufa.
Press service of the Government of the Russian Federation informs that during his visit to Bashkortostan, Prime Minister Vladimir Putin met with a military unit that lost a number of servicemen during last week’s combat with militants in Chechnya.
In addition, he visited an exhibition featuring Bashkortostan’s social and economic progress and information technologies being adopted in the republic.
Mr Putin also visited a clinic in Ufa that uses modern information technologies.
At the outpatient clinic, the Prime Minister was shown the Bashkortostan Social Welfare Card automated information system, which provides access to medical, transport, banking, tax, and pension services. The director of the clinic showed the Prime Minister the health centre affiliated with the clinic. Holders of Social Welfare Cards can receive a prompt medical examination and personal advice for healthy living at the health centre. After visiting the clinic, the Prime Minister had an opportunity to inspect a bus equipped with a fare payment system that allows payment with the Social Welfare Card.
The Prime Minister chaired a meeting of the Government Commission on the Development of Information Technologies in Russian Regions and met with the president of Bashkortostan, Murtaza Rakhimov. Bashkortostan will cope with its programme of low-rise home construction for government-paid residents within three or four years, republican President Murtaza Rakhimov said to the Prime Minister.
Prime Minister Vladimir Putin also visited the Ufa Transformer Plant, Russia’s largest transformer manufacturer, whose first production line is currently being commissioned. Mr Putin pressed a ceremonial start-up button, sending the first several dozen metres of electrotechnical steel, to be used in constructing a transformer, onto the conveyor belt. The plant's CEO, Leonid Makarevich, told the Prime Minister about corporate plans. He said over 5 billion roubles had been invested in the Ufa plant in the past four years, including over 340 million roubles for the social infrastructure.
